Hi! My name is Abby, and I am the owner of Wrapped in Ribbon Weddings and Events.
After earning my B.A. in Communications and Journalism in 2020, I entered the marketing and communications world to explore my passion for writing and digital storytelling. Through networking, I stumbled into an administrative assistant role that involved corporate event planning. Through this role, I accidentally uncovered a deep passion for curating special moments and experiences. It wasn’t until my own wedding that I realized how deeply I loved planning weddings and, even more so, the idea of using my skills to deliver pure magic to well-deserving couples on their special day. From then on, my goal was clear and Wrapped in Ribbon Weddings and Events was born. I have three years of event planning expertise rooted in nonprofit conference and training planning. I also tackle event planning and internal communications in my full-time role at a St. Louis-based nonprofit. I live in Saint Louis with my husband, Nik, and our two dogs, Boone and Lola. We love to travel and visit many of our favorite sports teams on the road. In my free time, I enjoy writing, creating content, baking bread, running, walking my dogs, and watching movies.
Why Wrapped in Ribbon? The name came to me one evening as I was imagining the elements of my fictitious business. I needed a name that would be flexible, versatile, and expandable as the business grew. I needed a name that would reflect my services and stimulate trust. It needed to feel like a couple walking into their dream wedding knowing they happily and willingly handed the details off to me. The name also serves as a double entendre, alluding to the significance of ribbon in traditional wedding ceremonies. Ribbons have been a traditional aspect of weddings for hundreds of years and have been used for a variety of purposes, including decoration, ceremony, and symbolism. Ribbons can symbolize many things, but most importantly, a couple's love, their unity and connection. From a ceremony standpoint, ribbons are used in many different cultural traditions. In Celtic tradition, a couple's hands are bound together with ribbons to represent their commitment to one another. In a New Orleans tradition, the bride inserts charms with ribbon tails into the cake, while friends and family surround her and watch. In other traditions, guests participate in the ceremony by wrapping colored ribbons around the couple's wrists and sharing their best wishes to the couple. In Medieval Europe, ribbons were often attached to the bride's dress as a symbol of her purity and innocence. All in all, ribbons have been a noteworthy aspect of wedding traditions for centuries. There doesn't seem to be a sign those traditions are dying any time soon! Ribbons also make for beautiful additions to boutonnieres, table settings, and other floral arrangements.
I can't wait to make your day as magical and special as the couple that you are. Let's plan a day you'll remember forever.
XOXO - Your hype girl, Abby
